Editor, Peta Krost-Maunder, was awarded the title at the prestigious PICA awards ceremony held at the Sandton Convention Centre last night. Peta was clearly overwhelmed with the honour but it came as no surprise to Contact Media Publisher, Sean Press. “Peta is an amazing journalistic talent and through her significant experience has brought much to the Wits Business School Journal. We are proud of this achievement and thank Peta for her incredible work,” said Press. This PICA win is not just an honour for Contact Media, it is a significant win too because although they have been publishing magazines for years, it is the first time that their magazines, which include the Wits Business School Journal, JoziBeat, The Afropolitan, Gtribe and PocketCaddi, have been entered into the PICAS. “It’s such a good feeling to be the new kid on the block and to be directly competing with the big guns for the first time ever and to walk away with a prestigious award such as this,” said Press.
